Last year Johnny Appleseed School hosted its

and “make your own sundae bar”! This was a
great hit with the “guys” and we are sure it
will be an annual tradition now. This event
is open to boys and their Dads(or
responsible male adult) and will be held on
Friday, March 30th.
Details on time and events planned for the
evening to follow.
Father/Daughter Dance

here at JA will make its return for another
very special night out for daughters and
their chaperones at our annual
Father/Daughter Dance, to be held
Friday, April 13th
from 6:00-8:00

Mother/Daughter Tea
JA held its’ first Mother/Daughter Tea two
years ago thanks to the idea and planning of
second grader, Samantha Bunner. JA Teachers
and staff transformed our cafeteria into a
beautiful fairy-themed tea party for over
250 mothers and daughters! This
has now become a very special event that
both mothers and daughters look forward to
each spring. We hope you will mark your
calendars for Wednesday, May 2nd
at 3:30 for this year’s Tea.

Teacher Appreciation Week
The first full week in May also marks
National Teacher Appreciation Week. While
we know we can’t ever thank our teachers and
staff here at Johnny Appleseed enough for
all that they do, we try our best during
this week to show our sincere appreciation
and gratitude. Breakfast buffets, small
tokens of appreciation, and a catered
luncheon are just some of the plans we’re
working on.

This great end of the year event will
include a food court, games, Pot Luck
Raffle, Moonwalk, Inflatable Obstacle
Courses, face painting, gift basket raffle
and much more. You’re sure to see some
surprises, too!

Field Days
As we near those last weeks of the school
year, it’s always fun for the students to
“let loose” during our Field Days, held this
year on June 4th and June 5th.
This is a great time for the kids as they
rotate with their class through a number of
game stations in the gymnasium and the field
outside.

PattiDeAmicis@jaschoolpto.com
Books & Beyond Ceremony
An end of the year celebration of our
popular reading incentive program that runs
throughout the school year. This is a
wonderful program to attend to see the
students who complete all eight stations
recognized for their hard work and receive
their “gold medals”. In addition, the PTO
also provides entertainment for the students
after the ceremony. Some recent
entertainment that we have seen was The
Bubble Man and a popular children’s author.
This year’s Books and Beyond Ceremony will
be held on Friday, June 8th
at the school.

Spirit Week
What a week of fun!! JA will hold Spirit
Week in June, coordinated by our creative
teachers and staff. In addition to hallways
filled with JA clothing and attire, we have
had “luau day”, “color day”, “favorite
sports team day”, and “backwards day”. As a
special treat, teachers and staff supplied
pictures of themselves when they were in
elementary school for all to guess “who was
who”! Spirit week will be held
6/4/12-6/8/12. Look for details of what
surprises teachers and staff will have for
us this year!
Fifth Grade BBQ
As we prepare to send our precious fifth
graders off to middle school, we end the
year for them with a BBQ in their honor.
This will be held Wednesday, June 13th.
The kids are treated to burgers, dogs, and
all the “extras” you would find at a
backyard BBQ. There are games, face
painting, and just an overall fun time!
More details will come as the date nears.
